RTE gives eligible Bharuch children free Class 1 seats in private schools under the 25% reservation.
RTE admission in Bharuch gives a free Class 1 seat in a private school if your child has completed 6 years by June 1 and your family income is ₹6,00,000 or less. Apply only online at rte.orpgujarat.com, choose schools near your address, and wait for the computer lottery.
Next cycle: the 2027-28 dates are not announced yet. Gujarat opened applications on 28 February in 2025 and on 4 April in 2026, so expect a notice between February and April 2027.
Last verified: 30 September 2026 against the official RTE Gujarat portal notices and press reports. Bharuch-specific figures are marked where they must be read from the live portal.
What Is RTE Admission and How Does It Work in Bharuch?
The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 requires private unaided schools to reserve 25% of their entry-level seats for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged families. In Gujarat that entry class is Class 1. The seat is free of tuition fees.
The Directorate of Primary Education runs the whole process on one portal, rte.orpgujarat.com. The 2026-27 cycle drew about 2.4 lakh applications statewide for roughly 83,000 first-round seats, so every Bharuch family competes in the same state lottery. Bharuch parents do not pick a separate district portal. You pick schools that the portal maps to your home address.
There are no interviews and no entrance tests. If your child meets the age and income rules and your papers pass district verification, you enter the lottery.
ભરૂચ = Bharuch. Gujarati notices on the portal use the spelling ભરૂચ. Ankleshwar, Jambusar, Jhagadia, Amod, Vagra, Hansot, Valia and Netrang are talukas of Bharuch district, so families there use this same guide.

RTE Bharuch Eligibility: Age, Income and Residence
Your child must meet all three conditions. Missing one rejects the application at district verification.
1. Age: 6 years completed on June 1
Gujarat amended its RTE rules in a notification dated 28 May 2025. A Class 1 applicant must have completed 6 years on or before June 1 of the admission year. For 2026-27 that meant a child born on or before June 1, 2020. Children with special needs can get up to 4 years of relaxation.
Many websites give conflicting age ranges. Some list a "5 years 6 months to 6 years" window with birth dates in the second half of 2020. That contradicts the completed-6-years rule reported from the official notice. Use the age check inside the application form as the final word, and read the notification on the portal Notice Board before you start.
2. Family income: up to ₹6,00,000
The ceiling is ₹6,00,000 a year for both rural and urban families. It replaced the older ₹1.2 lakh (rural) and ₹1.5 lakh (urban) limits from the 2025-26 cycle.
- Count gross income of the household, without deductions.
- The income certificate must come from the Mamlatdar or Taluka Development Officer.
- Apply for the certificate before the window opens. Offices need time, and Ankleshwar and Bharuch city offices are busiest in March and April.
3. Residence and school distance
The portal shows only schools mapped to your address, within 6 km. If a school you want does not appear, it is outside your area. You cannot force it into your list.
Who Gets Priority in the RTE Lottery?
Seats are allotted by category priority, then by lottery. For 2026-27, reports say preference moved to reserved-category children ahead of Anganwadi children. Read the priority table in the current notification, because the order can change each year.
Tip: List every school the portal allows near you. More choices raise your chance in each round, and applicants who missed Round 1 could re-select schools that still had vacancies.
Documents Required for RTE Admission in Bharuch
Keep clear scans ready before you open the form. Cut-off or blurry files are a common reason for a district query.
Use only official certificates. Statewide, 54,588 applications were rejected and 2,034 were disqualified for incomplete documents in 2026-27 out of about 2.4 lakh submitted. Never use an agent-made or edited certificate.
Where to get an income certificate in Bharuch
- Online: apply through digitalgujarat.gov.in.
- In person: your taluka Mamlatdar office or nearest Jan Seva Kendra.
- Check the certificate: it must show the officer's signature, the office seal, and the total annual income.
RTE School List Bharuch 2026-27: How to Read It
The only current list is on the official portal at rte.orpgujarat.com/Common/SchoolList. Third-party lists go stale because schools are added and removed every year. Choose Bharuch as the district and filter by taluka or ward.
Each row shows the school name and code, ward or village, address, board, co-education type, and one compact seat string: Medium / Total seats / 25% RTE seats / Available. For example, ENGLISH / 40 / 10 / 0 means an English-medium school with 40 Class 1 seats, 10 reserved under RTE, and none available right now.
Statewide, Gujarati-medium seats were the largest share in 2026-27 (over 41,000), followed closely by English-medium (about 40,000), with smaller Hindi, Odia, Marathi and Urdu blocks. Bharuch's own split is visible only in the live list.

How to Apply for RTE Admission in Bharuch
The whole application is online. No offline form exists. You visit a school or district office only after allotment, or if your application is queried.
- 1Get your income certificate firstRequest it from the Mamlatdar or Digital Gujarat before the notice is out. This is the step that most often delays families.
- 2Open the RTE Gujarat portalGo to rte.orpgujarat.com and start a new application. If it is slow near the deadline, the state has used alternate servers such as rte4.orpgujarat.com.
- 3Verify your mobile numberEnter your number and confirm with the OTP. Result messages go to this number, so keep it active.
- 4Fill child and parent detailsMatch every name and date exactly to the birth certificate and Aadhaar. A spelling mismatch is an easy rejection.
- 5Choose Bharuch schoolsPick from the schools shown for your address. Include a mix of mediums if you are open to them.
- 6Upload documents and submitUpload clear scans, review every field, submit, and save the application number. Print the acknowledgement.
- 7Track the statusUse your application number and the child's date of birth on the portal. The district verifies documents before the lottery.
RTE Bharuch Lottery Result and Rounds (2026-27 Record)
Gujarat runs up to four allotment rounds. Seats left unfilled in one round are re-offered in the next. This is how the 2026-27 cycle actually ran.
How to check your RTE Bharuch lottery result
- Online: open rte.orpgujarat.com, choose the result or seat allotment link, and enter your application number and the details asked.
- Admit card: if allotted, open the Admit Card tab, enter the application number and date of birth, then download and print.
- School visit: take the admit card and originals to the allotted school before the last date printed on the card.
Do not wait after allotment. The admit card carries its own last date for reporting to the school (for example, the Round 2 notice set a deadline of May 8, 2026). If you miss the date on your card, the seat can go back into the next round.
RTE Bharuch 2027-28: What to Expect and How to Prepare
No official 2027-28 schedule existed on 30 September 2026. Past cycles give a guide, not a promise.
| Cycle | Application window |
|---|---|
| 2025-26 | Started February 28, 2025 (reported close: March 12, 2025, later extended after the income limit rose) |
| 2026-27 | April 4 – April 17, 2026; extended to April 23 |
| 2027-28 | Not announced. Watch the Notice Board from February 2027. |
If the same age rule continues, a child needs to be 6 years old on June 1, 2027, which means born on or before June 1, 2021. That is an inference from the current rule, so confirm it in the 2027-28 notification.
- Get or renew the income certificate in January or February 2027.
- Fix name mismatches on Aadhaar and the birth certificate now.
- Make sure your child's Aadhaar exists. It is mandatory for registration.
- Keep the same mobile number active.
Common Reasons RTE Applications Get Rejected
- ✗Wrong age. Applying for a child who has not completed 6 years by June 1. Check the age rule in the current notice.
- ✗Name mismatch. The child's name differs between Aadhaar and the birth certificate.
- ✗Income proof not from the right authority. The certificate must come from the Mamlatdar or TDO.
- ✗Unclear scans. Cut edges, missing seals or unreadable amounts trigger queries.
- ✗More than one application. Only one application per child is allowed.
- ✗Inactive mobile number. You miss the result and admit card alerts.
