It supports SC, ST, OBC, SEBC, EWS, NTDNT, Minority and General category students with amounts from ₹940 to ₹2,00,000 per year. All applications are submitted online and payments made via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The Digital Gujarat portal currently hosts 33+ scholarship schemes covering Pre-Matric (Std 1–10), Post-Matric (Class 11–PhD), merit-based (MYSY), ITI/professional, research (PhD), hostel allowances, and category-specific schemes for SC, ST, OBC, SEBC, EWS, NTDNT, Minority and General students. See the complete schemes list on our homepage.

No — the application is 100% free. There is no registration fee, application fee, or processing charge at any step. If anyone asks you to pay money to apply for a Digital Gujarat Scholarship, it is fraud. Report it to the helpline at 1800-233-5500. Apply only at digitalgujarat.gov.in.

The scholarship amount is transferred directly to the student's bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) through the PFMS (Public Financial Management System). Your Aadhaar card must be seeded (linked) to your bank account. Track payments at pfms.nic.in by searching your Aadhaar number.

Pre-Matric Scholarship covers students from Std 1 to Class 10 (before the Class 10 board exam). Amounts: ₹940–₹3,000/year. Post-Matric Scholarship covers students from Class 11 to PhD (after the Class 10 board). Amounts: ₹25,000 to ₹2,00,000/year. Both are on the same Digital Gujarat portal with similar eligibility criteria.

In principle, yes — but the combined scholarship amount cannot exceed your actual tuition fees and educational expenses. Holding both a state scholarship (e.g., Post-Matric SC) and MYSY may be allowed, but the portal regulates disbursement to prevent over-payment. NMMS (national scheme) can be held alongside Digital Gujarat scholarships. Always declare all scholarships applied for on each application form.

Yes — scholarships must be renewed every academic year. Renewal is done through the same portal (digitalgujarat.gov.in) by selecting "Renewal Application" instead of fresh application. Requirements: passing the current year with minimum 50% marks and 75% attendance. Upload updated documents including new marksheet and current fee receipt. See our How to Apply guide for renewal steps.

💰 Scholarship Amounts

How much each scheme pays and what it covers.

Amounts vary widely by scheme: Pre-Matric: ₹940–₹3,000/year · Post-Matric (SC): up to ₹1,20,000/year · Dr. Ambedkar (SC UG/PG): up to ₹2,00,000/year · Post-Matric (ST): up to ₹1,20,000/year · Post-Matric (OBC): up to ₹1,00,000/year · EWS/NTDNT/Minority: up to ₹50,000/year · MYSY: up to ₹2,00,000/year + ₹10,000 equipment. See the full schemes table.

MYSY covers tuition fees up to ₹2,00,000 per academic year plus an equipment allowance of ₹10,000. The scholarship covers actual fees charged by the institution, up to this ceiling. For hostel students, a hostel allowance may also be available. The scholarship is renewable annually for the duration of the course. Full MYSY guide →

After final approval, the scholarship is processed via PFMS and typically reaches the bank account within 2–4 weeks of approval. The overall timeline from application submission to payment is typically 6–10 weeks. Pre-Matric first installments are usually released by November–December. Post-Matric payments follow after state-level processing (typically January–March). Track at pfms.nic.in.

Some schemes include a hostel allowance for students residing in recognised hostels. SC and ST students have separate "Hostel Allowance" schemes on the Digital Gujarat portal that cover mess bills. Pre-Matric hostel students also receive a higher rate than day scholars. Submit a hostel certificate from your warden when applying to claim hostel benefits.

The ₹10,000 MYSY equipment allowance is meant to cover tools, instruments, books, and study materials required for your specific course (e.g., engineering tools, lab instruments, medical equipment, drawing instruments for architecture). It is a one-time payment in the first year of the scholarship, not renewable.

NMMS Scholarship amount is ₹12,000 per year (₹1,000 per month). It is paid for 4 years — Class 9, 10, 11, and 12 — subject to annual renewal. Total benefit over 4 years: up to ₹48,000. Payment is via DBT to the student's bank account. Full NMMS guide →

The Research Scholarship for PhD students (SC/ST/SEBC) on the Digital Gujarat portal provides a monthly stipend of ₹5,000–₹25,000 depending on the research level and subject. The exact amount is determined by the guidelines of the Social Welfare or Tribal Development Department and may vary each academic year.

📝 How to Apply

Application process, steps, renewal, and common mistakes.

(1) Register at digitalgujarat.gov.in with your mobile and email, (2) Log in and complete your profile, (3) Go to Services → Scholarship Services, (4) Select your scheme and financial year 2025–26, (5) Fill the application form, (6) Upload documents (PDF/JPG, each under 200 KB), (7) Save as Draft and review carefully, (8) Accept terms and click Submit. Free · Takes 30 minutes. Full 8-step guide with screenshots →

For AY 2025–26: Post-Matric SC/OBC deadline was 30 March 2026 (reopened). ST deadline was 31 March 2026 (reopened). Pre-Matric and most other schemes closed November 2025. New AY 2026–27 applications expected to open July–August 2026. See our live deadline tracker →

After final submission, the application cannot be edited by the student. For minor errors, contact your institution's scholarship coordinator. For major errors (wrong bank account), contact the District Social Welfare Office or helpline 1800-233-5500. This is why it's critical to review everything carefully before clicking Submit — use Save as Draft and check multiple times.

Log in at digitalgujarat.gov.in → go to Scholarship Services → select "Renewal Application" (not fresh application) → update details → upload updated documents (new marksheet, new fee receipt, attendance certificate) → submit. Renewal deadline is usually December 31 each year. Condition: pass current year with 50%+ marks and 75% attendance.

Common rejection reasons: incomplete documents, income over the scheme limit, marks below minimum, name mismatch with Aadhaar, Aadhaar not bank-linked, expired certificates, wrong scheme selected, institution not recognised. Log in and check the rejection reason stated on your dashboard. See our full status guide for fixes.

Yes. The Digital Gujarat portal is accessible from mobile browsers. Use Chrome or Firefox on Android, or Safari on iPhone. The portal is best used on desktop or tablet for form filling as the application has many fields. Document uploading works on mobile. For Gujarati users, ensure your phone's keyboard supports Gujarati input if needed for name fields.

The portal typically prevents duplicate submissions for the same scheme. If a duplicate was submitted, contact the helpline at 1800-233-5500 or submit a grievance at digitalgujarat.gov.in/Grievance. Duplicate applications are flagged during verification and may result in both being rejected. Act quickly to resolve duplicates before the verification stage.

No. "Save as Draft" only saves your progress — it does NOT submit the application. You must click the final Submit button (after checking the terms & conditions box) for your application to be officially submitted. Log in and check your application status — if it shows "Draft", you still need to submit it before the deadline.

📋 Documents Required

What to upload, file formats, how to compress, and where to get certificates.

Required for all: Aadhaar Card (Aadhaar-bank linked), Caste/Category Certificate, Income Certificate (from Mamlatdar), Domicile Certificate, Previous Marksheet, Admission/Fee Receipt, Bank Passbook (first page), Passport-size Photograph, and Bonafide Certificate. OBC additionally needs NCL Certificate. See our complete category-wise checklist →

Each document file must be in PDF or JPG format, and each file must be under 200 KB (kilobytes). To compress PDF files, use ilovepdf.com. To compress JPG images, use compressjpeg.com. You can also resize photos to 600×800 pixels before uploading.

The income certificate must be obtained from the Mamlatdar office or Talati office in your district. Bring Aadhaar card and any income proof. Processing takes 7–14 days. You can also apply online at the Digital Gujarat e-Mamlatdar portal. The certificate must show annual family income within the scheme's limit (₹1.5L–₹6L depending on category). See our certificate guide.

Yes, mandatory. OBC students must submit a Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) Certificate in addition to the OBC caste certificate. Without it, the OBC application will be considered incomplete. The NCL certificate is issued by your Mamlatdar or designated Tehsil office and is valid for 1 year — renew it annually before applying.

Yes — mandatory. Aadhaar must be linked (seeded) to your bank account for the scholarship payment to reach you via DBT. Visit your bank branch with your Aadhaar card and ask them to link it. Linking takes 24–72 hours to reflect in NPCI records. Without Aadhaar-bank linkage, payments will fail even if the scholarship is approved.

The domicile (residency) certificate is issued by the Mamlatdar office of your taluka. Bring Aadhaar, ration card, electricity bill (all showing Gujarat address), and any existing certificate. Also available online through the Digital Gujarat e-Mamlatdar portal. Processing: 7–14 days. The certificate proves you are a permanent Gujarat resident — without it, no scholarship application can be processed.

Yes. A clear mobile camera photo is acceptable in place of a scanned copy. Requirements: (1) All text must be fully readable, (2) No parts cut off or cropped, (3) File size under 200 KB, (4) JPG format. Take photos in good natural light, on a flat dark surface, phone held directly above. Use Adobe Scan or CamScanner app for best results.

🔍 Status & Payment

Tracking applications, payment issues, and what each status means.

Log in at digitalgujarat.gov.in → Services → Scholarship Services → check the Status column in your service request table. Statuses: Pending, Under Review, Approved, Payment Processed, Rejected, Incomplete. See our full status guide with explanations →

"Pending" means your application was submitted and is in the queue for review by your institution or district committee. No action is required from you. Typical wait: 1–2 weeks after the deadline. If pending for more than 6–8 weeks, contact your institution's scholarship coordinator or the helpline 1800-233-5500.

(1) Wait 5–7 business days — approval and credit are separate steps. (2) Check at pfms.nic.in → Know Your Payments → search Aadhaar. (3) If PFMS shows payment sent, visit your bank branch with the PFMS reference number. (4) Most common cause: Aadhaar not seeded to bank account — ask your bank to link it. (5) If unresolved after 3 weeks, call 1800-233-5500.

Go to pfms.nic.in → click "Know Your Payments" → select "Search by Aadhaar" → enter your Aadhaar number → enter captcha → click Search. The result shows payment amount, date of transfer, and bank reference number. If no result appears, the payment has not yet been dispatched from the treasury.

(1) Log in and note the rejection reason shown on your dashboard. (2) Correct the issue (gather correct documents, verify eligibility). (3) Contact your institution's scholarship coordinator for guidance. (4) If the portal reopens the window, reapply with corrected documents. (5) For appeals, visit the district social welfare office with your reference number and all original documents. See our rejection guide →

"Incomplete" means your application is missing mandatory information or documents. Log in immediately → open your application → identify missing fields (usually highlighted in red) → complete all fields → upload missing documents → save and submit before the deadline. An incomplete application will not be processed.

Log in to digitalgujarat.gov.in → go to Scholarship Services → change the financial year using the year selector (e.g., select 2024–25) → check the status column. For payment tracking of past years, visit pfms.nic.in and search by Aadhaar — PFMS tracks all government payments regardless of year.

Typical timeline: Institute verification (1–2 weeks) → District committee (2–4 weeks) → State approval (1–2 weeks) → DBT payment (1–2 weeks). Total: 6–10 weeks from submission to payment. Applications submitted early in the window are processed faster. Applications with errors or incomplete documents take longer due to query resolution.

🔐 Login & Account

Login steps, forgotten password, and account management.

Go to digitalgujarat.gov.in → click Login on the right side → enter your registered mobile number or email + password + captcha → click Login. For new users, click New Registration first. Full login guide: Login & Account Guide →

On the login page, click Forgot Password → enter your registered mobile number → enter the OTP received → create new password → login. If you no longer have access to your registered mobile, contact the helpline at 1800-233-5500 — mobile number can be updated once per year.

Try: (1) Use Chrome or Firefox (not IE/Edge), (2) Disable browser extensions and ad-blockers temporarily, (3) Clear cache: Ctrl+Shift+Delete, (4) Try on mobile data instead of WiFi, (5) Try at off-peak hours (early morning, late night) — portal is very slow near deadlines. If still failing, call 1800-233-5500 or email digitalgujarat@gujarat.gov.in.

Log in → go to My Profile → update mobile number → verify with OTP sent to new number. You can change the mobile number once per year on the portal. For help, contact the helpline 1800-233-5500.

Go to digitalgujarat.gov.in → click New Registration → enter your active mobile number + email + create a password → verify with OTP. Registration is free and permanent. Use the same account for all future years. Full registration guide →

If you clicked Save as Draft before the session expired, your progress is saved. Log in again and go to Scholarship Services → open your draft application → continue from where you left off. If you did not save as Draft, the unsaved data is lost and you'll need to re-enter it. Always save as Draft every 5–10 minutes while filling long forms.

🏆 MYSY Scholarship

Everything about Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana.

MYSY (Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana = Chief Minister's Youth Self-Reliance Scheme) is Gujarat's flagship merit scholarship for students who scored 80% or above in Class 10 or 12. It covers tuition fees up to ₹2,00,000/year + ₹10,000 equipment. Income limit: ₹6 lakh. Open to all categories. Full MYSY guide →

The annual family income limit for MYSY is ₹6,00,000 (₹6 lakh) — significantly higher than other Gujarat scholarships (which cap at ₹1.5L–₹2.5L). This makes MYSY accessible to middle-class families. The income must be certified by a Mamlatdar-issued income certificate.

You may apply for both, but the combined amount cannot exceed your actual fees. Both applications must be submitted separately. The portal regulates dual disbursement — you will not receive more money than your actual tuition costs. An SC student who qualifies for both MYSY and the SC Post-Matric Scholarship can apply for both and receive the higher benefit.

Log in → Scholarship Services → select Renewal Application → update details → upload new marksheet (must show 50%+ for renewal) + new fee receipt + attendance certificate → submit before the December 31 deadline. Renewal requirements: pass current year with 50%+ marks and 75% attendance. Full renewal guide →

MYSY covers: BTech/BE (Engineering), MBBS/BDS (Medical), BPharm (Pharmacy), Polytechnic Diploma, BA/BSc/BCom, MBA/MCA, Architecture (BArch), LLB, BAMS/BHMS (Ayurveda), Degree after Diploma. Not covered: ITI courses, distance/part-time courses, private correspondence courses. Full-time recognised courses at Gujarat institutions only. Full courses table →

Key differences: (1) MYSY is merit-based (80%+ marks) while others are category-based, (2) MYSY is open to all categories including General while others restrict by caste, (3) MYSY has a much higher income limit (₹6L) vs others (₹1.5L–₹2.5L), (4) MYSY pays up to ₹2 lakh — the highest of any Gujarat scheme. Full comparison table →

🎯 NMMS Scholarship

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship for Class 8 students.

NMMS (National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship) is a central government scholarship for meritorious Class 8 students from economically weaker families. It provides ₹12,000/year for 4 years (Class 9–12). In Gujarat, students appear for the NMMS test conducted by GSEB. Apply at scholarships.gov.in. Full NMMS guide →

Eligibility: (1) Studying in Class 8 at a government/government-aided/local body school (not private unaided schools), (2) Minimum 55% in Class 7 (50% for SC/ST), (3) Annual family income ≤ ₹3,50,000, (4) Must pass the NMMS state-level selection test (MAT + SAT) conducted by GSEB.

The NMMS exam in Gujarat is typically conducted in November or December each year by GSEB (Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board). The exact date is announced at gseb.org. Registration is done through schools — ask your school's head teacher.

Yes. NMMS is on scholarships.gov.in (national portal) and Digital Gujarat Scholarships are on digitalgujarat.gov.in (state portal). They can be held simultaneously if you qualify for both. Both applications must be submitted separately. The combined amount should not exceed actual educational expenses.

No. NMMS is restricted to students in government, government-aided, or local body (municipal) schools. Students in private unaided schools are not eligible. Consider the MYSY Scholarship (80%+ marks, any school type) or Pre-Matric Scholarship (for SC/ST/OBC) as alternatives.

🪪 Freeship Card

What it is, how to get it, and how to use it at your college.

A Freeship Card is an official government document issued to eligible scholarship students that allows them to gain admission to an educational institution without paying tuition and hostel fees upfront. The institution admits the student on this card's basis and later claims fees directly from the government. It is particularly useful for SC/ST students while their full scholarship is being processed. Full Freeship Card guide →

The District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) or Tribal Development Officer issues Freeship Cards to eligible students. It is primarily issued to SC and ST students who have been approved for post-matric scholarships. It is issued after your scholarship application is approved at the district level.

It means a Freeship Card has been issued in your name. Contact your institution's scholarship coordinator — they should have received or will receive the card. Present it at the fees counter. Your scholarship application is still being processed in the background, and the card ensures you don't have to pay fees while waiting.

Contact your institution's scholarship coordinator or the District Social Welfare Office to request a duplicate Freeship Card. Bring your application reference number, Aadhaar card, and admission documents. Do not delay — present the duplicate to your institution as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted admission.
